Here are some Frequently Asked Questions families have as they begin their search

In all job categories besides finding a one-time or date night babysitter, the fee is $1500.
A $500 non-refundable retainer fee is due at the beginning of the process, and the final payment is due once you’ve signed a contract with your new childcare professional. That’s it! No hidden fees, no last minute unexpected charges. This covers everything.
Our fee to find you a one-time babysitter is $30.
Once you send in the payment, we will email our roster of babysitters who are looking for extra work, and we will find someone available to watch your children for the allotted hours. Please allow at least 48 hours for us to find a sitter. If no one is available, the $30 placement fee can either be returned, or retained as a credit for a future date night .

Yes, in order to attract professional childcare workers, we require our families to offer basic industry standards to their nanny, including:

—Guaranteed hours
—At least a week of paid time off (although two weeks is strongly encouraged)
— A minimum wage of $17 per hour, typically more if you have more than one child
-Other benefits such as paid holidays and mileage reimbursement are not required, but are strongly encouraged

“Nannies are considered employees, and not independent contractors under the Fair Labor Standards Act. That means household employees should have FICA taxes (Social Security and Medicare) withheld from their pay and receive Form W-2 no later than January 31 following the end of the previous tax year (December 31).”
-Quote from gtm.com
We require our families to offer a W2 to their nannies not only because of legal obligations, but also because it allows your nanny to prove that they are working as they apply for home loans, auto loans, etc. The W2 also benefits your family. Issuing a 1099 to a nanny is considered an illegal employment misclassification, and can be viewed as tax evasion by the IRS.

The easiest way to do this is through a payroll service. There are many different options out there that will automatically deduct taxes and send your nanny a W2 at tax time. Two of the most popular services are—

“Guaranteed hours are a set number of paid hours each week outlined in the work agreement. For example, if a nanny is guaranteed 45 hours per week, she is paid for those 45 hours even if the family only uses 38 hours during a particular week.”
Quote from nanny.org
Essentially, the family pays for the allotted hours that their nanny is setting aside to be available to them. Similar to a daycare, you are charged weekly regardless of whether or not your family took the child to daycare that day. Guaranteed hours assures stability and consistency with your nanny.

The more info you want to share, the better! It will help us narrow down the candidate pool and find your perfect fit. However, we encourage all the families to keep an open mind— your match may not be quite what you imagined on paper, but they may be exactly what you need!
