Meet Maia - Founder of the Fort Wayne Nanny Network!
Hi everyone! My name is Maia, and I am the founder of the Fort Wayne Nanny Network. I’m so glad you’re here!
I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to work with children. Babysitting for the younger kids in the neighborhood after school or on snow days was my absolute favorite thing. I was so excited whenever I got a call to come help out a family for a few hours.
Cut to several years later, I attended Ohio University to study early childhood education. It was around my junior year of college when I figured out classroom teaching wasn’t for me. I much preferred to be one-on-one with students, and I wanted to tailor my day to work with a smaller group of children, tending to their needs rather than managing larger groups.
After graduation, I dabbled in all sorts of things, trying to figure out my next steps. I taught swim lessons to children, I taught beginner’s chess lessons, and other odd jobs. But nothing really clicked until I took my first full time nanny job in 2021. From there, I knew I had found my career. I have now been a nanny for over 5 years. I also joined the US Nanny Association, where I received my PNCP certification (Professional Nanny and Childcare Provider) via their national standards. I love what I do, and I am here to support both nannies and families in their quest for childcare!
When I am not working as a nanny, I play the harp as a side gig. I play often for weddings and events here in the Fort Wayne area, and I absolutely love what I do! Feel free to check out my harp work at fortwayneharpist.com.
In my downtime, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and our two black cats, Ivy and Clue. You’ll find us taking walks in our neighborhood, seeing movies, and occasionally taking our kayaks out for a spin!
